Hi There!
I'm Marcy. I truly hope you will enjoy my home as much as I do! I have owned The Hens Haven for quite some time and have now had the opportunity to renovate it twice! You will find all new paint on every surface; fresh, shiny, refinished hard wood floors; and handcrafted items throughout the home. I love to express my own style and do nearly all of my home improvement by myself. Don't you just love my kitchen floor? I sanded and finished the original pine subfloor, giving it the unique look of having rugs. When I am not doing home improvement or building something, I am working as an Occupation Therapist on the burn unit at our local hospital, working in my native garden, building something, or training for a full distance Ironman (I have done 16!).
My Story
I thought I would take a minute and tell you a little bit about me and just whose home you’re staying in! I was born and raised right here in Indianapolis, just a little bit north of here and graduated from North Central High School. I left Indy to earn my bachelor’s degree in Biology from the College of Charleston in Charleston, SC and then returned to attend University of Indianapolis, earning my master’s in Occupational Therapy. I purchased The Hens Haven when I was in grad school at UIndy in 2002. I lived here for a while but after graduating, getting married, and having a couple of kids, the space was a bit tight. I’ve always loved this house so much that there was no way I was parting with it! When long term renting turned disastrous, I turned to the STR model and loved the flexibility and ability to monitor and maintain my house better. Besides Innkeeper, other hats I wear are mom (which includes free uber driver, maid, short order cook, human alarm clock, need I go on?), Occupational Therapist to burn patients, gardener, dumpster diver, collector (of weird stuff), Ironman triathlete (I’ve done 16 full distance Ironman’s), animal lover, chicken keeper, soap crafter, canning rebel, wood worker, and home renovator.
